Most new sod starts rooting in 7–14 days.
Full rooting typically takes 3–6 weeks, depending on watering, weather, and whether the neighborhood rabbits decide to test it out.
Light walking after 2 weeks is usually fine.
No heavy traffic, dogs, or backyard football games until about the 3–4 week mark.
Treat it like a new tattoo — admire it, don’t touch it.
Once the sod is rooted enough that you can’t lift a corner — usually around 2–3 weeks. And for the first mow, keep the mower blade high. (Your lawn is still in its feelings.)
For the first week: water daily.
Week two: every 1–2 days.
After rooting: shift to a deep watering 2–3 times a week.
